Call For Submission

Open Arts Press is looking for full-length fiction and non-fiction written by African and Afro-Diasporic writers around the world.

We want work that is bold, strange, tender, funny, uncompromising — stories and ideas that ask something of the reader, that sit with them long after the last page. Literary fiction and speculative worlds. Sweeping memoirs and sharp, searching non-fiction. Stories about family, bodies, land, survival, desire, and any interesting topic of your choice.

Stories that haven’t found a home yet because they were too much, too specific, too honest. Those are exactly the ones we want.

We believe there are so many untapped stories that just need the right platform and resources to shine.

We read every submission. If your work isn’t right for us at this time, we’ll let you know — we’re unable to offer individual feedback. If we’re excited, we’ll be in touch.

We’re a small press, and we choose our authors carefully. What we’re looking for isn’t just a great manuscript — it’s a writer who’s ready to build something with us. A book is a relationship. If you’re in it for the long haul, so are we.
